On 21 and 22 March 2013 the Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam, together with the University of Amsterdam, Sezer Tansuĝ Art Foundation and the Netherlands Institute in Turkey, are organizing the international symposium ‘Troy: New Perspectives on Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in Turkey’. This symposium is organized within the context of the exhibition Troy. City, Homer and Turkey the closing event of the celebrations of 400 years of Turkish – Dutch diplomatic relations and is being presented at the Allard Pierson Museum until 5th of May.
The symposium aims to provide a platform for further analysis on the notion of cultural heritage in Turkey and the archaeology of Troy. The two-day symposium will take place in the Allard Pierson Museum and each day has its distinct focus. First day is devoted to the theme of Cultural Heritage and the second day focus is Archaeology.
