PORTICO is a cooperative project of 5 European partners: the cities of Chester (United Kingdom), Gent (Belgium), Köln (Germany) and Utrecht (the Netherlands) and Initiatief Domplein in Utrecht. The project’s goal is to make the partner cities’ archaeological heritage visible by developing new methods, techniques and ways of thinking about urban development – above and below surface and by sharing insights and knowledge about heritage interpretation.
The Inheritage.eu website and the accompanying (social media) network are part of Portico project and will be maintained (by the E30 Foundation) after the PORTICO project is finished.
The PORTICO is supported by the European Union (Interreg IVB NWE).
The conference has an interesting program:
-Keynote lecture ‘Forward to Heritage’ by Herman Konings
-Connecting past and present – Heritage interpretation through the exploration of shared experiences. By Dr. Nigel Mills
-Transnational cooperation and policy learning. How local governments benefit most from cooperation in Interreg. By Prof. Dr. Stefanie Duhr
– Strategies for the application of New Media in heritage interpretation and audience development. By Dr. Marinka Copier
-Values and attitudes towards heritage across generations. Hosted and moderated by participants of PORTICO’s Youth Event.
