This is an App creation project produced in conjunction with three schools and a community group in Elgin and Lossiemouth in Morayshire (North East Scotland). 20 points of interest have been chosen by the schools and community volunteers. Using the Library’s archive maps and images, the app will be a cultural tourist trail for visitors to Elgin and Lossiemouth. Each point will include audio narrated by a student or volunteer. Historical industries in the area such as whisky, weaving and fishing will be highlighted. Bringing the Library’s collections to life and allowing local people to interpret historically and culturally important points of interest in a ‘virtual’ guidebook. Users will also be able to comment on each point. Free download due for release March 2012.
