Inheritage.eu is an international platform for professionals in the field of heritage interpretation and communicating archaeology, historic cities, buildings, landscapes & sites. Topics are also innovative exhibition design, experiences and architecture, influenced by possibilities from social media, AR and games.
It is being developed to meet and inspire one another, to discuss and challenge, to show and to admire examples of heritage communications throughout Europe. It will be fully developed during 2011.
Founding ‘fathers’ are the participants in the European Portico project. This is a collaboration between the cities of Gent, Chester, Köln, Utrecht and the intitiatief Domplein founded by the INTERREG IV-B NWE.
Portico aims at exploring the spectrum of heritage conservation and communication and the Dutch Odyssee program. The Odyssee program is a project initiated by the NWO (The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research) and Erfgoed Nederland (former Netherlands Institute for Dutch Heritage) is set up to dig up ‘cold cases’ in archaeological excavation in order to make the results accessible for scientific research and to the wider audience.
The first Inheritage website and the underlying model, with levels and modes, was conceived and developed by Tinker imagineers (Erik Bär). This next version of the Inheritage.eu network is developed bij the E30 Foundation, using wordpress and connecting to several social media and offline meetings, seminars etc..
The website is open to be used by everyone interested. You may use all the information presented for non-commercial purposes, but please mention the original source.
